About the Artist
Hi, I’m Maria! I’m a newborn, children, maternity, and family photographer based in Philadelphia.
For as long as I can remember, photography has been a part of who I am. Growing up, I was always the one holding the camera at family parties, capturing little moments that would later become big memories. At 17, I bought my first professional camera while studying cinematography in college. I thought filmmaking would be my path—until I started photographing the babies in my own family. That’s when I realized my heart truly belonged to photography.

I attended Penn State University, where I earned my B.A. in Psychology. While my career path shifted from studying the mind to capturing memories, I’ve found that both passions complement each other beautifully. My psychology background helps me connect with families, understand children, and create a comfortable, enjoyable experience during every session.

In 2023, I welcomed my son into the world, and becoming a mother gave me a whole new perspective. Experiencing those fleeting newborn and milestone moments firsthand made me treasure photography even more—it reminded me why capturing these seasons of life is so important.

With years of practice, countless hours teaching myself lighting and camera techniques, and endless passion, Maria Elisa Photography was born. Today, I feel so thankful to call this my career. My goal is to capture life’s most meaningful milestones—whether it’s the anticipation of a new baby, the joy of a child’s first birthday, or the love shared within a family. Every session is more than just photos; it’s an experience filled with laughter, connection, and memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
